Just before the end of term we had a fantastic "Guest @ Grays" -where we get successful artists or designers to come and talk about their successful careers. The talk was from Antoni & Alison, Antoni who specialised in textiles, and Alison specialised in painting both graduating from Central St Martins. Somewhere i hope (NO "WILL") to go to myself eventual to study. Their work is mainly fashion although they have recently began a fine art photography output on the side as well. It was inspirational to hear how they left art school with £2oo and have managed to work their way up the ladder working with hundreds of companies such as jigsaw, Marks + Spencer, Freemans Catalogue, Sony, Harrods, Selfridges, Virgin Mobile,Habitat, whilst always remaining their own brand. Their talk was completely inspirational and expressed how it is possible to work under your own label and not necessarily have to work under another label. Two extremly nice people and really enthusiastic about their work, also really supportive about art school and pushed for us to use all the facilities and make the most of everything whilst we still can which is something that I am defiantly keen to do next semester.
